Planning to head to Alberta this Winter on your next Canadian adventure? Make sure to stop by Stony Plain to experience a variety of cool winter activities on your trip. With so much to do, you will be wondering to yourself why you have never visited Stony Plain before? This is your guide to all things winter in Stony Plain and our top recommendations on what to experience this season.

Christmas Holiday Light Up

Looking for family-friendly Christmas activities while in Stony Plain? Make sure to visit the Stony Plain Christmas Light Up, hosted every third Thursday in November from 6:30 - 9:00 PM. Watch as the streets of downtown light up with holiday lights and how the Town Christmas Tree comes alive right down the centre of Main Street during the official lighting.

There are plenty of activities to enjoy including a live DJ, colouring contest, treat and treasure hunt, and of course a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. Make sure to visit local businesses and show them your support.

Outdoor Activities

Would you love to experience great outdoor winter activities? Stony Plain has you covered with lots of snow for the family to enjoy. We recommend heading to Rotary Park where they have plenty of snow trails for you to walk through and experience and snow-laden play areas for the kids. One of our favourite activities is to head over to the pond near the painted bridges and join in on some outdoor ice skating.

Wondering where else in the city you can go to enjoy outdoor skating? There are plenty of ice rinks located at St. John Paul II School, Forest Green School, Ecole Meridian Heights School, Centennial Memorial, and Westerra.
